Maybe the region doesn’t need a new Brent Spence Bridge.
Leaders should consider a proposed southern bypass to divert traffic off the congested 50-year-old bridge, Kentucky Republican gubernatorial candidate Matt Bevin said during a 90-minute meeting Monday with The Enquirer editorial board.
Bevin, a businessman from Louisville, is running against Attorney General Jack Conway, a Democrat.
Both have said they are against tolling the Brent Spence Bridge to pay the $2.6 billion to renovate the old bridge and build a new one alongside it.
Few statewide candidates have come out in favor of tolling when they’re in Northern Kentucky.
